Dunstable Leisure Centre

A £20.1m redevelopment of the existing Leisure Centre on a restricted town centre site. The new centre will become a Hub for the local Community and will also include a larger library, creche, café, and flexible community space for other public and community services, such as the Citizens Advice and Adult Day Care / Disabled Sports.

The Sports facilities in the new leisure centre include:

  • 2 multi-use studios and a spin studio
  • 100 station health and fitness suite
  • 25m 6-lane pool and 7m x 12.5m teaching pool
  • 6-court sports hall
  • 2 Squash Courts
  • Double height cafe
  • Library
  • Day opportunities / Martial Arts
  • Citizens Advice Bureau Office & consultation rooms
  • Treatment Rooms & Meeting Rooms

By bringing services together under one roof, the new facility will reduce running costs, while providing more flexible services to customers. The Centre’s existing customers and the wider community were consulted about the plans as part of the pre-planning community involvement. The project received Strategic Facilities funding from Sport England and utilises the Sport England Design Guidance documents.
