Construction of a Government Funded Genome Sequencing Centre which was initiated to deliver a new world-class genetic sequencing facility for the Sanger Institute as part of the planned expansion of Southfield at the Genome Campus. The project was created to deliver the Human Genome Project, a Government initiative announced in July 2014 to sequence 100,000 human genomes by 2017 that will propel the UK to the forefront of genetic research.
